Egg and Co is a vibrant café known for its delicious brunches, cosy atmosphere, and creative menu offerings. As part of their brand refresh, Egg and Co needed new printed menus that would align with their welcoming vibe while reflecting the quality and creativity of their dishes. Our task was to design and print menus that would enhance the dining experience and represent the café's unique charm.
Objective:
The goal of this project was to create custom menus that were both visually appealing and practical for daily use in the café. The design needed to reflect the fun, laid-back atmosphere of Egg and Co while also being easy to navigate for customers. Along with aesthetics, durability was a priority to ensure the menus could handle the wear and tear of everyday use.
Approach
We approached this project with a focus on blending creativity and functionality. The café’s eclectic style and emphasis on fresh ingredients inspired us to create menus that were not only visually engaging but also easy for customers to browse.
Key design considerations included:
- Visual Design: We selected playful typography and a colour palette that reflected the café’s bright and cheerful atmosphere. The design was kept clean and minimal to ensure the focus remained on the food and drink offerings, while subtle illustrations added a whimsical touch.
- Material and Durability: Given the daily use in a busy café environment, we chose high-quality, durable paper with a protective finish to ensure longevity. The menus were designed to withstand frequent handling, spills, and regular updates.
Implementation
- Menu Design: We designed a series of menus, including breakfast, lunch, and drink menus, that followed a cohesive style. The layout was carefully organised, making it easy for customers to find information quickly, while the colour scheme and illustrations added character.
- Print and Finish: After finalising the designs, we printed the menus on high-quality paper stock with a matte finish to give them a premium feel. The protective coating helps the menus resist wear, ensuring they last longer despite heavy use.
Outcome:
The custom menus have brought a fresh and engaging element to Egg and Co’s dining experience. The playful yet professional design perfectly captures the essence of the café, while the durable materials ensure the menus remain in excellent condition over time. The new menus have been well-received by both staff and customers, enhancing the overall experience while maintaining functionality. By aligning the design with the café’s welcoming vibe and focusing on practicality, Egg and Co now has printed menus that not only serve a purpose but also contribute to the overall atmosphere of the café.
